NFL Draft Day 3: Jermod McCoy to Raiders, Jets trade up for Cade Klubnik

The third and final day of the 2026 NFL Draft began with a name many thought would go in the first round.

Instead, Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy went No. 101 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders, as the opening pick of the fourth round on Saturday in Pittsburgh.

The Buffalo Bills owned the No. 101 selection entering the day, while the Raiders sat at No. 102. Las Vegas traded a 2027 seventh-rounder to Buffalo to move up one spot and secure McCoy.

Rated the 16th overall prospect in the draft class by Scouts Inc., McCoy's fall was attributed to a health concern. McCoy tore his ACL and missed the 2025 college season, but while the ACL has healed, a degenerative cartilage issue was discovered in his right knee.

"All of my doctors that did my surgery told me (that) I'm good," McCoy said, per ESPN. "But if there's something that (the Raiders) want me to do for the longevity of my career, I'm willing to do that because I feel like they have my best interest."

McCoy had four interceptions and nine pass breakups for Tennessee in 2024 after one year at Oregon State.

Two days after the Raiders selected Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick, they continued to make waves Saturday by sending former top-10 pick Tyree Wilson to the New Orleans Saints in order to trade up from No. 219 overall to No. 150 in the fifth round.

Wilson, the seventh overall pick in 2023, amassed 12 sacks in three seasons as a Raiders defensive end. The Raiders attempted to trade star pass rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens earlier this offseason, but Baltimore backed out due to a failed physical as Crosby recovers from knee surgery.

At No. 150, the Raiders drafted safety Dalton Johnson from Arizona.

The quarterback class continued to prove thin, as just one signal-caller was selected in the fourth round and one went in the fifth.

The New York Jets moved up in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals to select Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik at No. 110 overall. The Bengals received the 128th overall pick in the trade, while sending New York the 199th pick in exchange for No. 140.

Klubnik, once seen as a top college quarterback, never quite realized his potential in three-plus seasons as Clemson's starter. The 6-foot-2 prospect threw for 2,943 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions for the Tigers in 2025.

The Jets have again revamped their quarterback room but waited till the fourth round to take a flier on an incoming rookie, having opted for pass rusher David Bailey with the No. 2 overall pick. Klubnik joins a QB room featuring Geno Smith, Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe.

"I woke up this morning hoping the Jets were going to pick me," Klubnik told reporters after the pick.

The Philadelphia Eagles used the 178th overall pick on North Dakota State quarterback Cole Payton, a former FCS national champion who'll slot in on the depth chart behind Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee and veteran Andy Dalton.

While just six quarterbacks were drafted through five rounds, a more popular position was tight end. Seventeen were taken in Rounds 1-5, more than the 16 total drafted in 2025.

Mississippi State tight end Seydou Traore, originally from London, went to the Miami Dolphins at No. 180, the penultimate pick of the fifth round. Though not announced as part of the prospect "green room" Traore appeared on stage in Pittsburgh and was celebrated by commissioner Roger Goodell, an unusual moment for Day 3 of the draft.

The Cleveland Browns kicked off the sixth round by selecting Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green with the first pick. Green will join Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel on a crowded Cleveland depth chart.

The sixth round saw the first punter and first kicker taken. Michigan State punter Ryan Eckley went to the Baltimore Ravens at No. 211, and for the final pick of the sixth round, the Green Bay Packers selected Florida kicker Trey Smack.

Three teams with established starters picked up quarterbacks in the seventh round: Rutgers' Athan Kaliakmanis to the Washington Commanders (223), Texas Tech's Behren Morton to the New England Patriots (234) and LSU's Garrett Nussmeier to the Kansas City Chiefs (249).

Nussmeier was the third-highest rated quarterback by Scouts Inc. but was the 10th and final QB taken in the draft. He joins newly acquired Justin Fields and holdover Chris Oladokun as backup options in Kansas City as Patrick Mahomes recovers from ACL and LCL surgery.

The seventh-to-final pick of the day was noteworthy because the player selected has never played football before. The Philadelphia Eagles took Nigerian defensive line prospect Uar Bernard at No. 251.

A 6-foot-4, 306-pound athlete who turned heads at the scouting combine, Bernard is part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program, which also produced current Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata, originally a rugby player from Australia.

Red Murdock, a linebacker from Buffalo, became the highly anticipated "Mr. Irrelevant" selection when the Denver Broncos chose him with the 257th and final pick in the draft. In 42 games across three-plus college seasons, Murdock had 364 tackles (39.5 for loss), nine sacks and an NCAA record 17 forced fumbles -- one more than the previous record-holder and fellow Buffalo alum, Khalil Mack.

"You scared the s--- out of the rest of us," Povich told her on Monday's edition ofOn Par With Maury Povich. "When Ricki came on, you have to understand, the '90s were the golden age of daytime talk shows. I mean, there were 20 of us on the air, and most of us were in our 40s and 50s and maybe even older. And here comes this 23-year-old who gets the youngest audience of us all, and we were scared s---less."

Lake, the show's guest star, noted that many of her competitors made changes after her series premiered, two years after the debut ofMaury.

"Well, you changed your formats, a lot of you," Lake said. "You changed the tone of the show. I don't know if I want credit for all of it."

Povich, whose ownMaurybecame known for its paternity tests ("You arenotthe father!"), explained that talk shows of the era started "kind of tame" before they became the site of infamously bad behavior onThe Jerry Springer Show,The Jenny Jones Show, and more.

Lake noted that, when she entered the marketplace, the genre was "skewing over 50."

After she left in 2004, Povich was "the youngest skewing," he said. Povich stayed on the air until 2022.

The end of their shows was also a topic of their conversation, with Povich noting that both left on top.

"I could've done it for maybe a decade longer," Lake said. "I made that choice... 9/11 was a huge trajectory shift in my life. Every aspect of my life changed from witnessing that experience that day from my West Village apartment. I was so freaked out watching that plane fly down the Hudson and hit that building."

She recalled being a young mother to sons Milo, now 29, and 24-year-old Owen, whose father is Lake's ex-husband Rob Sussman.

"I had a 2-month-old and a 4-year-old. I was a lactating new mother protecting my cubs. I just felt like the world was coming to an end that day, and I had an epiphany on the roof of my building, as I watched it all unfold, that I would leave New York, that I would leave my job, and I would leave, ultimately, my marriage," Lake explained. "And it took a lot of planning, it took a couple of years to finish my contract — I couldn't walk away from my show — but I knew I wasn't going to renew beyond that, the term that I had agreed to."

She eventually relocated to California and began "making documentary films and being more behind the scenes."

Lake added, "I felt like, though the show was a phenomenon, and I think we did so much good for young people, to get conversations going for people who were marginalized and not represented to be seen on television. I think there's a lot of good that came out of our show, but, for me personally, I was like an actor for hire in a lot of ways. My producers did the whole thing. I didn't have a voice, really."

Since she left daytime TV, Lake has executive-produced projects including the 2008 docThe Business of Being Bornand 2021'sThe Business of Birth Control. She's also acted in TV series such asDrop Dead DivaandCrazy Ex-Girlfriend.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Paolo Banchero and Desmond Bane each scored 25 points, and the Orlando Magic blew a 17-point fourth-quarter lead before rallying to beat the Detroit Pistons 113-105 on Saturday for a 2-1 lead in their Eastern Conference first-round series.

Banchero had 12 rebounds and nine assists. Franz Wagner scored 17 points for Orlando, which got 15 from Jalen Suggs and a 14-point, 17-rebound game from Wendell Carter Jr.

Cade Cunningham scored 27 for Detroit, which trailed 96-79 with 8:34 left — then outscored the Magic 26-8 over the next six minutes to grab the lead. But the Pistons, who got 23 points from Tobias Harris, couldn’t hold on.

Game 4 is Monday night in Orlando.

It’s the 13th time since 1984, when the NBA went to the 16-team format, that a No. 8 seed has taken a 2-1 lead in a first-round series over a No. 1 seed.

Of the previous 12, five finished off the upset. Those teams: Miami in 2023, Philadelphia in 2012, Memphis in 2011, Golden State in 2007 and New York in 1999. And that doesn’t include Denver’s upset of Seattle in 1994, the first 8-over-1 series win in NBA history.

The Magic — who had to win an elimination game at home just over a week ago to escape the play-in tournament — are trying to be the next name on that list.

PHOENIX (AP) — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 42 points in a brilliant shooting performance, Ajay Mitchell added 15 in place of the injured Jalen Williams and Oklahoma City beat Phoenix to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference first-round series.

Gilgeous-Alexander — the league’s reigning MVP — hit 15 of 18 shots on a variety of tough looks, frustrating a Suns defense that actually played decently for much of the game. Alex Caruso added 13 points off the bench while Chet Holmgren had 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

The defending champion Thunder will go for the sweep in Game 4 on Monday in Phoenix.

Dillon Brooks led the Suns with 33 points on 11-of-21 shooting while Jalen Green added 26.

Oklahoma City took an 87-79 lead after three quarters and never trailed in the fourth. Gilegous-Alexander hit a difficult fallaway 19-foot jumper to put the Thunder up 102-87 with about five minutes left, deflating the Suns crowd and pretty much ending any hope for a comeback.

KNICKS 114, HAWKS 98

ATLANTA (AP) — Karl-Anthony Towns had his first postseason triple-double, OG Anunoby scored 22 points and New York recovered after back-to-back losses to beat Atlanta, tying the Eastern Conference playoff series at 2-2.

Towns had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The 11th-year All-Star became the fourth Knicks player to record a triple-double in a playoff game, joining Walt Frazier, Dick McGuire and Josh Hart.

The Knicks host Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, and the series is now guaranteed to return to Atlanta for Game 6 on Thursday.

New York took control of the game midway through the first quarter and maintained the lead for the rest of the game. The Knicks held a 68-44 advantage at halftime and extended that lead to 20 points by the end of the third quarter.

New York, who had one-point losses in the previous two games, returned to form behind its core of Towns, Anunoby and Jalen Brunson, who scored 19 points.

TIMBERWOLVES 112, NUGGETS 96

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ayo Dosunmu scored a career-high 43 points, stepping up afterleg injuries to Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzowith the highest-scoring playoff performance by a reserve in 50 years, and Minnesota beat Denver.

The Timberwolves took a 3-1 lead in the series in a game that ended with ejections of Denver’s Nikola Jokic and Minnesota’s Julius Randle after Jokic became angry when Jaden McDaniels made a meaningless layup with 2.1 seconds remaining and confronted the Wolves’ swingman near his bench.

The story before that was Dosunmu, who had the best performance by a sub since Fred Brown scored 45 off the bench for Seattle in a 116-111 loss to Phoenix on April 15, 1976.

Nonetheless,Lynch told reporters after the 2026 NFL Draftthere was "no new update right now" about Aiyuk's future while reiterating the team's desire to trade him.

"We're available. Give us a call," Lynch said. "And like I said earlier, I think it's the prudent thing to do. He’s an extremely talented player. He's been an extremely effective player in our league; situation didn't work itself out here. That's not to say that it can't be rekindled somewhere else. And we'd be happy to do something with anyone if the opportunity presented itself."

Lynch was also asked whether the 49ers would consider releasing Aiyuk as they remain unable to find a trade partner.

"Not anytime soon," he said.

49ERS DEPTH CHART:How team projects with 2026 NFL Draft in the books

If the 49ers do eventually release Aiyuk, it will likely be with a post-June 1 designation. Doing so would allow the team to spread his dead-cap hit – which is salary cap space allocated to a player no longer on the roster – of nearly $33.6 million over two seasons.

However, San Francisco doesn't have to wait until after June 1 to make such a maneuver. NFL teams are allowed to designate up to two players as post-June 1 releases at any point after the start of the new league year, and the 49ers haven't yet utilized that designation in 2026.

So, all that's stopping the 49ers from releasing Aiyuk is their desire to acquire something from him via trade.

Will that happen? That remains unclear. TheWashington Commandershave "significant interest" in the 28-year-old receiver, according toNFL Media's Ian Rapoport, but they have thus far been content to wait for the 49ers to release him.

As such, the stare-down between the 49ers, Aiyuk and teams interested in acquiring him could linger well into the quieter months of the 2026 NFL offseason.

On Friday, April 24, the "Fast" singer, 33, brought her It's Not That Deep Tour to MSG, where the sold-out crowd was on its feet the entire time as Lovato's powerhouse vocals soared through her hit-filled discography.

"It felt amazing, that feeling up there knowing that the place was sold out with fans who have stuck by my side through everything and shown me so much love and support over so many years," Lovato tells PEOPLE after the show. "It just felt incredible."

The show featured many cuts from Lovato's latest albumIt's Not That Deepas well as some of her most beloved hit songs, including "Heart Attack," "Give Your Heart a Break" and "Cool for the Summer."

She also surprised the audience with guest appearances fromJoanna "JoJo" Levesquefor a duet of "Too Little Too Late" as well as Lovato's husbandJordan "Jutes" Lutesfor their first-ever live performance together. The married couplesang a cover of the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris,"which frontmanJohn Rzeznikperformed at theirMay 2025 weddingfor their first dance. "Wasn't that so sweet?" said Lovato of the moment with Jutes at MSG.

How did Lovato prepare to take the stage for such a major performance? "I do a little warm up, like a physical warm up, and then I warm up my voice. I obviously get ready in hair and makeup, and I use myTherabreath," says the star, who has a partnership with the oral care brand (which hosted a post-show meet-and-greet with Lovato at MSG) and notes her favorite product is the Sparkle Mint mouthwash.

The MSG show was a triumph for Lovato, who says she feels "so grateful" for the experience. "I love my fans, and I wouldn't be doing this without them."

Less than 24 hours before bringing the It's Not That Deep Tour to the Big Apple, Lovato released a new deluxe version of her latest album,It's Not That Deep (Unless You Want It to Be), featuring new songs and collaborations with COBRAH andRose Gray.

"I got back into the studio after I released the album, and I was like, 'I want more,'" she explains of the reissue. "I knew I wanted to put out a deluxe version of the album, and I just went in and started writing. I think 'Pretty Catatonic' was the first song we wrote for it, and it took off from there."

MSG wasn't the only major moment of Lovato's latest tour so far. At the first show in Orlando, Fla., earlier this month, she reunited with two individuals very important to her career:Joe JonasandSelena Gomez.

Lovato and the Jonas Brothers member performed "This Is Me" fromCamp Rockas well as their 2008 collaboration "On the Line" at the Orlando concert, while Gomez was in the audience and later took photos with the "Skyscraper" singer backstage.

The reunions "meant everything to me," says Lovato. "It was so great to have Selena there. I hadn't seen her in so long. And Joe, we had reunited for the MetLife performance [on the Jonas Brothers' JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour in August 2025], and that was really fun too. Getting to do it all over again was great."

"I loved seeing them," she adds of Jonas and Gomez. "Anytime I get to see them, it's a good day."

Former Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says timing right for new leadership

Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said the timing was right for both him and the organization when he stepped down after 19 seasons without a losing record.

Tomlin, who guided the Steelers to victory in Super Bowl XLIII in the 2008 season, told NBC on Sunday night in his first interview since resigning in January that the lack of postseason success -- no playoff wins since 2016 -- figured into what was a difficult decision.

"You know, it's probably not an overnight decision," said Tomlin, 54. "It's probably not something that I could articulate or share with people. There's a loneliness with leadership.

"I just thought it was a good time for me personally and by that, I mean, just where I am in life and I thought it was a good time for the organization, to be quite honest with you. We didn't have success in the playoffs in recent years and there's just some veteran players there, man, guys like Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt and (Chris) Boswell, man, that I thought that just were worthy of the excitement and the optimism of new leadership."

Tomlin will join NBC as an NFL pregame show analyst on "Football Night in America," the network officially announced on Sunday. The show airs ahead of "Sunday Night Football."

"I just thought it would be a great way to stay connected to the game and the awesome people in it, players, coaches, executives," Tomlin said, "and excited about doing that on Sunday night and traveling to different venues and getting that feel for the environment and lastly, I just thought it would be awesome to share insight with fellow football lovers.

"I love to talk football and so that's just an exciting component for me. I got to admit, though, there's going to be some anxiety about stepping into a new space, but good anxiety, it's good to be uncomfortable with the growth associated with that. I'm fired up about it."

The Steelers went 10-7 in 2025 with a 30-6 wild-card loss to the Houston Texans on Jan. 12. He was replaced by Pittsburgh native and veteran head coach Mike McCarthy in late January.

Tomlin guided the Steelers to the Super Bowl XLIII title with a 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in February 2009. Pittsburgh lost Super Bowl XLV to quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, 31-25, in February 2011.

Tomlin posted a 193-114-2 record with Pittsburgh, tying him with Hall of Fame member Chuck Noll for the most regular-seasons win franchise history and ninth in NFL history. Noll also coached the Steelers (1969-91), with Bill Cowher (1992-2007) bridging the gap between Noll and Tomlin.

Rodgers, who played for McCarthy in Green Bay and with Tomlin last season, hasn't announced his intentions for 2026 -- return, retirement or something else. Tomlin predicted Rodgers, 42, will play his 22nd NFL season for the Steelers.

"Man, if you got a gun to my head, I'd say it's AR," Tomlin said. "I just think, Aaron, I just think being around him for the 12 months that I'm around him, he's got a love affair with the game of football and not only the game, but the process, the informal moments, the development of younger guys, the interaction with teammates. I think he has an addiction to that, and there's only one way to feed it. And certainly he is still capable and in really good shape. And so I think at the end of the day, he'll play football."

The banquet hall, where hundreds of prominent journalists, celebrities and national leaders were awaiting Trump’s speech, was immediately evacuated. Members of the National Guard took up position inside the building as people were allowed to leave but not reenter. Security outside was also extremely tight.

It was not immediately clear what happened. A law enforcement official confirmed there was a shooter but no further details were immediately available.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro posted a short video from the hotel after the incident, saying, “I have been taken out of the ballroom after the sound of the shots fired. The Secret Service is now in charge of this building, this hotel. I just spoke to Mayor Muriel Bowser. She is on her way, and (Police) Chief Jeffery Carroll is on his way. He will be in charge as soon as he gets here.”
