Caitlin Clark appears as a clue in 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' WNBA category

In the May 5 airing of 'Celebrity Jeopardy!',Iowawomen's basketball legend and current Indiana Fever star point guard Caitlin Claark appeared as a clue in the show's WNBA-themed category.

USA TODAY

When the contestants chose to answer the $200 clue in the category "More Than A Fever Dream: The WNBA," the question read "The WNBA's MVP Award went to Cynthia Cooper in 1997; In 2024, its rookie of the year award went to this 'C.C.'"

The contestant, Patton, immediately provided the correct answer: Caitlin Clark.

This is not the first time the former Hawkeye has been referenced in the intellectually challenging show, as a contestant mistakenly identified Paige Bueckers as Clark on the regular version of "Jeopardy!" in July 2025, when a photo of Bueckers in a UConn uniform was used for a clue about a 2025 NCAA National Championship and draft pick.

Clark and the Indiana Fever tip off their 2026 WNBA regular season on May 9 in a "must-see" matchup against Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, and the Dallas Wings from Gainbridge Fieldhouse. That game is scheduled to start at noon CT and will be nationally broadcast on ABC.

Commanders' rookie Antonio Williams reveals reason he picked No. 14

Washington Commandersrookie wide receiver Antonio Williams will wear jersey No. 14. Washington revealed jersey numbersfor each member of its rookie class week. Williams wore No. 0 at Clemson, much like first-round pick Sonny Styles wore during his final season at Ohio State.

USA TODAY

However, the No. 0 jersey is unavailable to theCommanders, as cornerback Mike Sainristil currently wears that number. So, Styles went with No. 52, and Williams chose No. 14.

Stylesexplained why he picked No. 52. It was unique, as he'd never worn a traditional linebacker number before. When it was revealed that Williams would wear No. 14 for Washington, speculation immediately began that it was because ofDetroit Lionsstar wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

After all, new offensive coordinator David Blough plans to implement a similar scheme to the one Ben Johnson ran in Detroit, which helped turn St. Brown into a superstar. While there are comparisons to St. Brown, that's not even close to why he picked his new number.

"One, four," Williams said Friday after Washington's first rookie minicamp practice. "That was my first number ever, so take it back. I got a lot of great memories in this number, and hopefully I can make a lot of more great memories in this number."

Don't believe Williams? He posted a picture from his childhood on Instagram, wearing No. 14. He also used the caption, "We back."

There you have it. Williams did not pick his NFL number because of St. Brown. But if you watch Williams in college, he looks a lot like the Lions star. The Commanders certainly hope Williams resembles St. Brown when it comes to the on-field results.

Martin Shortis reflecting on the loss he experienced early in his life.

During an appearance at the Netflix Is a Joke Presents: This Better Be Funny with David Letterman event at The Montalban Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 7, Short, 76, appeared on a panel alongside fellow comediansDavid LettermanandPaul Shafferand discussed topics including his early career, friendship withSteve Martinand his late wifeNancy Dolman.

Letterman, 79, also commented on Short’s upcoming Netflix documentary film,Marty, Life Is Short, and noted that after watching the doc the “one thing that struck me was your childhood.”

“You came from a funny Irish Catholic family and then suddenly your brother died in a car accident. And then your mother got cancer. And then your father died. That’s an incredible amount of loss very early,” Letterman told Short.

“Yeah, I was around 20,” replied Short. “My older brother David died first. He was the star of the family. Then my mother was diagnosed with cancer at his funeral and died three years later. My father died the year after that.”

“So there was definitely a period where life changed completely,” added Short, noting that his mother, who was a violinist, was the first female concertmaster in North America and was "an extraordinary musician."

Short was just 12 when his brother died, while his mother and father, who was a steel executive, died before he was 21.

In an early profile with PEOPLE, Short, who was 34 at the time, shared thetouching way he coped with the tragedy his family has experienced.

"There isn't a period of my life that I don't like to think about or wouldn't go back to,” he told PEOPLE at the time. "It sounds like a tragic family, but it really isn't.”

"My mother had cancer, and she had been ill and then in remission since I was 13. She was a remarkable person; both my parents were. So I never looked at it as if it was a tragedy — that I didn't have them my whole life. You learn some sense of priorities. Our whole family took the attitude that if you have wonderful moments, don't second-guess them, just enjoy them."
