King Charles Greeted by Cheers at London Fashion Week Hours After Ex-Prince Andrew's Arrest

King Charlesmade an appearance at London Fashion Week on Thursday, Feb. 19, the day his brother, theformer Prince Andrew, was arrested.

Charles, 77, carried on his royal duties by appearing at 180 Strand, the home of London Fashion Week, where Buckingham Palace said he would tour two exhibitions, including one by Stella McCartney, before sitting in the front row for the week's opening show.

He was greeted by cheers,The Timesreported.

The King's brother, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested at his home Thursday, the day of his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

British authorities are investigating whether Andrew shared confidential information with Jeffrey Epstein while Andrew served as a trade envoy for the U.K.

Charles also performed his duties earlier Thursday, when hegreeted foreign dignitariesat St. James' Palace in London after Andrew was taken into custody.

Andrew was arrested at his new home at his brother's Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Andrew's former home in Windsor,Royal Lodge, is also being searched, according to police.

"As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk," police said in a statement.

Following Andrew's arrest, the King issued a statement through Buckingham Palace.

"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office," he said. "What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities."

"In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation," he continued. "Let me state clearly: the law must take its course."

Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing connected to Epstein, who died by suicide in a New York City jail in 2019.
